ROSANNE BAKER THORNLEY
βI truly love a great story song. Like the ones Gordon Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel, Harry Chapin, and Suzanne Vega used to drop on us. In the grand tradition of those hallowed names, singer-songwriter Rosanne Baker Thornley has released a powerfully delicate single βIn Parisβ β.
- Walter Price, Global Texan Chronicles / Leipzig, Germany
Rosanne Baker Thornley (RBT), Toronto, Canada has been evolving and expanding her relationship with music and writing for quite some time. She delves further into her craft, cultivating songs from an intensely personal space with her new album, "Sorry Iβm Lateβ. Released in September 2022, the lush new songs are an ode to self-discovery and to the subtle-yet-profound moments of life. The result is an unpredictable, vulnerable and sincere album built upon strong lyricism and dynamic musicianship.
Emerging on the Canadian music scene years ago, Rosanne established herself as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter for bands βDaystarβ, βNiteskoolβ and βBakersmithβ. She later released her solo album βCourageβ (Sony). Over the years Rosanne has continued to hone her exceptionally gifted writing talents. A highly sought out songwriter she works and co-writes with a myriad of artists on their own projects. She is the founder and head songwriter for That First Song; she represents hers and her cowriterβs songwriting and song interests through 23 Productions; she is Toronto curator for the New York-based global songwriting initiative The Acoustic Guitar Project; is founder of The Collabor8tors, a group of eight Canadian songwriters sharing their co-writing insights.
Word on the Street
"Sorry Iβm Late is the kind of album youβll be going back to as there is much to unpack of a nature that coaxes you to take your time about it. A solid comeback for an artist poised for her second coming and these songs are just the ticket to get βer done."
- Lenny Stoute, BTW 34
βThe album is really a destination. It takes you somewhere, and makes you feel and think in a safe and warm place. One thing that struck me was how you took simple situations in life and made them poetic and romantic, and heart-wrenching. Beauty in every day. The truth of love and loss, having kids, losing a loved oneβ¦ WOW wow wowβ
- Kirsten, Fan
"Listening to Sorry Iβm Late is akin to sitting in front of a mature autobiographer telling her life story. The songs are intensely personal yet entirely relatable to so many listeners and, certainly not too late."
- Sandy Graham, Cashbox Canada
